My TEAM ONE member report regarding usage of tuned simulations versus untuned simulations. This is only my report. Other members are still working and may disagree.

I did research on Ap, Ellis, Del Mar, Bay Meadows, Fairplex and Santa Anita @ oak tree. I used TSN procaps files. I tested over the time frame of July to present. Trainer and Jockey data were excluded from my tests. I tested for win percentage only. I reset the default pace settings to early of 0.1 and late to 3.0. I tested other settings but these worked best with my data.

My conclusions are:
1. Tuning is superior to untuned and worth the extra time and effort.
2. Tune on the previous week and use on the current week.
3. Track the tuned settings and look for big changes.
4. Rain during a week makes tuning unreliable.
5. Tuning does not make big changes to the simulation.

Since tuning is better I am continuing to tune for the tracks I play. My conclusions are made and research has stopped.

I am working on tracking the profiler top pick versus the untuned simulation top pick now. Nathan's last upgrade makes this possible to do now. I am using untuned because of the ease and the need to agree with others research for continuity.

Will,

Thank you for the report. Not that you need validation from me, my usage of the program regarding tuning simulations reflected the same. I have found using the last 5 cards to be just about right for tuning a future card. I also agree there is not a huge difference between tuning and untuned.

By the way, for what it's worth, I have known Will for a few internet years now and his research skills are superb. I think we are very lucky you chose to share your findings with the entire group. Thank you very much.

Jim

Thanks for the interesting report. Sounds like you did a lot of work....

It seems totally logical that off tracks shouldn't be used in the tunes for fast tracks, but do you think it would be reasonable to make up a sim tuning for muddy or sloppy tracks using like cards? I guess you'd have to use days that are relatively "old" and this could be a problem.

Kat,

Good question. However, I do not think it would be sucessful tuning with off tracks. Tuning only makes small changes to the simulation results. I found that the simulations do not work well after the track was off earlier in the week and it is listed as fast now.
Ap's results were great with the simulations in July. Then it rained in August off and on for the whole month and the sim results only using tracks listed as fast were quite bad. I also noticed this effect at Ellis Park.

This is theory and real testing may prove otherwise. You go ahead and do some testing with your idea and let us know how it turns out. Hdcper has some testing procedures if you need them. It will be good for you because tuning results are usually better than untuned and tuning can help your bankroll.

which tracks that you have done do you think is most profitable playing and how- win , ext, tri's, pick3'..How has your Sim results and Profiler at bay meadows done compared to the ones i've posted, is there much difference. I use Bris Drf data files (single)
