A question for Nathan or anyone else that might know the answer. If I have an individual database for say Gulfstream and in my FV I have a column for the Jockey's Win percent at today's distance. If the database contains 4 years of data does EquiSim use all the data for the 4 years or does it just go back so many races or days? I have nothing checked that I know of to limit the days or races back to use.I ask because I know of Jockeys that rode at Gulfstream in years past that are showing a zero at common distances like 6 furlongs. On another note I'm about to dump all my Bris single(k) and Multicap data and result files from 2009 back to 2007 and in some cases back to 2005. If anyone has need or use for them send me a private message with you email address. Keith

Hi Keith, Been looking at your post for several days now and would like to be of help, but am somewhat unsure exactly what you are asking. When you state, "I have a column for the jockey's Win percent at today's distance", do you mean you are using the $jkDistCat_WP variable or something else? In my experience with ESROI, I am not aware of any way to get specific distance jockey win percentages...just distance categories. Regarding your question, "If the database contains 4 years of data does EquiSim use all the data for the 4 years or does it just go back so many races or days?". ESROI will store and/or use the data you tell it to through the Profiler Preferences | setup tab for Horse, Trainer, Jockey, Sire and Owner. In other words, after you tell ESROI what to store in your database and the date range, ESROI will store/use all that data to create your database. You select the dates to be used and the variables included when building a database. Once your database is built and you load it and open a datafile within a formula view template, the edit button will enable you to access the current formula view templates' "Race Assignment Filters" and "Pace Line Inclusion" settings. Based on my interpretation of your post I believe you may wish to examine these settings. Another thing I would check (with a database loaded) would be the settings at: Profiler Database | Profiler Controls and even drill a bit deeper at Profiler Database | Profiler Controls | More Filters. I know I've experimented with these filters in the past and forgot to reset them when I finished. Keith, if the above doesn't help, maybe you could clarify abit more because, based on my familiarity with ESROI, I am at a loss as to why the issue you are experiencing..."I have nothing checked that I know of to limit the days or races back to use...I know of Jockeys that rode at Gulfstream in years past that are showing a zero at common distances like 6 furlongs", is occuring. Mark thanks for the reply. I am using $jkDistCat_WP. It is a Horse FV and Race Assignment Filters are set at 0-99. I checked Profiler Controls and More Filters and everything is OK there. I'm just finding it strange that several jockeys that have ridden full time in past years are showing a "0" for their Win/Place percent at common distances. That's why I asked if there was a set number of races and not all the races in a database that the EquiSim database used. I keep individual track databases not one large database. The Jockey Distance and Surface Win and Place % along with the Trainer Distance and Surface Win and Place % is an important part of my daily handicapping.

Keith, Have you used TSN files in the past? If so, your issue may be related to the naming conventions that Bris uses (DRF) versus what TSN used (Equibase). When you open a card, ESROI stores the data it "sees" in file called settings.sdb and uses this file in the creation of all databases. For example, if you take the time to input jockey changes in the form view before storing the card to a database, the changes will be stored in the settings.sdb and the proper jockey will be stored in your database(s). This same type of thing would have occured if you opened any TSN files in the past. The TSN naming conventions would be stored in your settings.sdb file and used to create your databases. For example Bris(DRF) uses Flores Jose L while TSN(Equibase) used Flores Jose Luis...not a match to ESROI. In case anyone from Bris reads this, kindly take note that the Equibase trainer/jockey naming conventions TSN files used were infinately better than DRF naming conventions Bris files currently use. If you think you may have opened any TSN files in the past, then you would have TSN data stored in your settings.sdb file. Here's what I would try. With ESROI closed, find and delete your settings.sdb file from your ESROI folder. The next time you open ESROI it will recreate your settings.sdb file. Now rebuild your database(s). Mark
