Just purchased Equisim and I'm still getting my feet wet. I'm ususally pretty good at figuring software out but whether it's cause I'm suddenly getting older or I'm suddenly getting dumber, I'm having some problems taking all this in. Especially what I do with the profiler and formula views and SPAT. Is there still hope for me or should I just start all over with Ainsle?

betchatoo, There's a lot to digest all at once in ES5, probably would be better to take it in bite sized chunks. Start with one aspect and get comfortable with it and then move on to the next. I'm not sure what you are asking as far as the profiler, etc. Are you understanding what it is you see in those screens or needing to know how to incorporate them into your handicapping?

A little of both/. I see the profiler number and know how it ranks the horses. I', not yet sure exactly how it comes to its' rankings or hjow I should incorporate it into my overall handicapping

betcharoo, The first thing I would do is profile the race(s) then look at the profiler screen with 'brief sort' unchecked. At the very top are the conditions of the race, race shape, makeup of the race in terms of running style and filters used. Below that is a breakdown of winners by running style.
[Let me digress for a moment. On your profiler controls you will see a number of filters: Track, Surface, Dist cat, etc. so whatever you have checked when you profile the race is what you are seeing stats for.] Next is a group of stats that apply to the race (as per your filters) so I'm looking at a card and it lists Dom E1 5 races, 5 starts 20% wins -.58% ROI....and so on, you can see what factors are important and which are losers. Down below you will see the factors which each horse has listed below his name, then the trainer, owner, jock and sire if all that is checked in your database preferences. More later. Bill N |

Welcome!
Re-open your registration confirmation email and the link to the download area is there as well as your user id & password. If you don't have that email, I think you'll have to contact Nathan. Download the updates exactly as you originally downloaded the software. Good 'capping! |

Betchatoo and Adanto,
Welcome aboard to the Equisim Team! Like always I would be glad to help anyway I can to get you up and running. Not certain I can be much of help with formula view, but most other features I have a good handle on. Just send me an email at hdcper@cox.net and maybe we can arrange a time to chat on my free cell phone minutes. This is great software, Bill |
