We used to have a bookstore in town that fetures a selection of hot sauces! My favorites: Hell in a Bottle, BlisterBlend Suicide Sauce, and my favorite, Lip Remover! If I wasn't doing this, I'd probably be doing something else.

Nathan, This is, perhaps, more crude than we like in this area ... but ... y' know ... the official chile-head theme song is Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire." About Dave's Sauces. A word of caution: There is a Dave's Gourmet Insanity Sauce, or somethin' like that. Wimpy. Brownie Scouts spread it on their cookies. It would be OK on ice cream, except for the vinegar. On the other hand, Dave made some ultra-potent stuff. I can't recall the name, but it was Extreme or Beyond Insanity or something equally intriguing. Good stuff. Perfect for a chile cook-off, or if you just want to hear someone scream. To make this EquiSim-relevant: Using the nifty new features of v 3.5 ... today I tied an inadequate database into River Downs ... and lost nearly everything I touched. But: I also looked at FingerLakes with a somewhat more mature database and -won- nearly everything I touched. Best results appeared to be from MDN-CLM, CLM & ALW ... for very specific distances. So, those were just what I followed ... with success. This is a fantastic UPGRADE! In the past, I would sometimes see a possible ROI of, say ... 85% for a certain distance. Now, though, I can see that it works out to be a -100% for perhaps CLM and ALW but +450% for MDN-CLM (to make up some numbers.) If CLM races have been bad bets in all 33 races over the past few weeks, let's leave them alone this week, right? So ... while today's fun didn't pay for the wife's kitchen remodeling job, it did pay for a lamp fixture or two. Ah! And to make this once again HOT FOOD related: If you want to show your friends that you can eat hotter peppers than they can ... [Note: a reasonable person wouldn't even WANT to do that, but ... oh well ...] Grab a known-hot pepper, preferably the meanest nastiest biggest Hab you can find. Chomp right into it ... eat the end farthest from the stem. It's as hot as a cucumber. Hand the remainder to your probably-drunk friend and let him (or, preferably, her) take the next bite. Guaranteed pain. You won't have to take a second bite because he/she will be drinking out of the aquarium or toilet or whatever's handy. Have fun, y'all!

Folks ... my earlier comment about buying some Dave's Insanity Sauce was ill-advised. Nathan is correct. But EquiSim first. Then: Win some money. Fly to Bangkok, check out the Regent Hotel. Tell their cook to make you some Thai food that's hotter than anything they've ever served to round-eyes before. Stay there until you can eat it for breakfast without blinking. Then go home and buy some Dave's Insanity Sauce. (Oh, yeah, and check to see if EquiSim v 4 is on the market yet. I can't even imagine what Nathan will do to top v 3.5!) Then go see your doctor and if you're able, go to the track and win more money for another trip...

I, btw, have Dave's "Gourmet" insanity sauce in the fridge. Why I keep this in the Fridge and not in my car battery is beyond me. I should take it on fishing trips as bear repellant. I think Dahlmer might have put it on Brownies as a merinade -- ok, that was crude... But that gives me an idea -- frozen insanity licks? Hmmmm. Intriguing... RE: SPAT style analysis using the additional filters available in V 3.5 - right on. That is exactly the intended purpose of SPAT. Short example: Saratoga overall this year - 194 races/ 39 sim winners, 20.1% wins, -13% ROI Saratoga Dirt Races this year - 127 races / 32 winners, 25.2% wins, +8.5% ROI. -N
