I recently purchased and built another computer. I also purchsed a MS Windows XP Pro. All the computers at my home and my office company where I work have been using the FAT 32 file system. I am a home designer and I maintain all of my designs on the computer at the office and at home. With the recent purchase of Win XP Pro, I plan to change the files systems to the NTFS. By what I have read I don't believe this is a problem, but I love to here any input from any of you computer guru's that may help. Also, will this affect my Equisim database. Is it necessary to make this change? Are will the FAT32 and NTFS file systems work together? Any input it will be greatly appreaciated. thanks flooger

NTFS is a more efficient file system so I would go with it. If you are converting from FAT to NTFS via the convert command, back up your data first. You shouldn't lose any, but due diligence and all that. The only problem is that any operating system that does not support NTFS (e.g. Win 95,98,Me) cannot read the NTFS volume directly. This should only be a concern if you are dual-booting. This restriction does not apply when accessing files across a network. Hope this helps.
