From my IT department -- no joke.
There's a new e-mail virus on the loose (on the Internet). Please watch out for messages that have the following characteristics: From: Subject: Attachments: PP.exe If you receive any of these messages, delete them immediately. If you are checking your ISP e-mail with Outlook, Outlook Express, or any other pop3 client, you are especially vulnerable to this virus. The name of the virus is W32.Chir.B@mm, and the full details are available at: Make sure that you are running the Symantec Anti-virus client on your PC, and that the real-time protection is enabled. You should see a small yellow "shield" in your system tray if the Symantec Anti-virus client is installed and running. It looks like this: If it's not in the system tray, or it has a red slash through it, then you are not protected from any viruses. Also, verify the date of the virus definitions on your system. They should be dated 07/31/2002 rev. 3. You can check this by double clicking on the Symantec icon in the system tray. Lastly, this virus is also a file infector. Once a system is infected with this virus it must be rebuilt. -Nathan |

If you are running Outlook 2002 (Office XP) an attached EXE file will be blocked automatically by Outlook. You won't have to worry about it. You won't be able to accept EXE's either. Even if you want to accept it.....
