Nathan, Here are a few more: (2) Add a button on the left side of Speed Graph, below the "Reset PPs to Most Recent" button, to "Reset PPs to Primary Selected" to have the speed graph show the main, blue, pace line selected on the race form. I find myself doing this manually every time, flipping back and forth from the race form to the speed graph, because the selected race I want to graph is not always the last race. (3) Add a "Previous Race" and "Next Race" button on the toolbar. (4) Make the toolbar customizable, having the ability to add or remove any of the menu choices as buttons (5) Have a paceline selection criteria which is customizable, not just for simulation bias settings but for general use,... allowing for use last race with no excuse, find most suitable race, ignore trip trouble in selection, etc. (6) Add an updated varmasterlist.html to the help files in the directory \Program Files\ThoroTech\ESROI5\Help and add a choice for it on the "Help" menu (7) Add the ability to print the Fractions Tool view and the Formula View in the "Print" Dialog box so that they can be printed with PPs, instead of having to print each seperately. (8) Add the ability to "hide" columns in the formula view so that they do not print. (9) Add autocomplete ability to the Formula View expression field so that when you type $ or # and start typing it will start matching to the variable or the function, instead of just bring up a pulldown list, then add the ability to hit return to select the variable or function you started typing. This message has been edited. TC, That's a heck of a list - and a very good one. Please keep the ideas rolling in. But, naturally, note that some of these have been on my list for a while and I'm not sure when I will be able to get to them all. They are all excellent and having the list is very helpful too! Thanks, -N

Nathan, Is there any way to provide for comments in the FV so when they are shared among board members we have some idea on what the purpose of the formula is without having to pull the sometimes complex equations apart? Thanks, Scott

Similar to the COLx variables (COLMAX, COLAVG, etc.) have ROWx variables. Let me explain. It's sort of a kludge but it's possible to get all the data (e2 + late for example) for each PP onto the horse template. For example, I have a FV that shows E2+ Late for each horse's PP on the horse type template. What I'm struggling with is a way to find the max value. I can probalbly think about it some more and write a convoluted nested #GREATER function to find the max value but a fuction that would return the max in a row from column X thru column Y would solve the problem. Form of the function is something like ROWMAX(BeginCOL, EndCOL). My plan would be eventually to hide the PP columns and show horse name and maximum E2+ late (that qualifies on surface and PP age) along with some other data to produce a short report. Also, is anyone else having this trouble: when I switch between races in FV my template constantly changes. Scott

Scott: I am experiencing the template change-also when I delete a template it will come back the when I open ES but not necessarily the very next time I open ES. Anyone else with this issue. Freddy

Deleting a template deletes the template file - it is gone. If it is going away once, and then coming back some other time, something very strange is happening as the file is somehow re-materializing. THe Race Assignment Filters, available through the Formula Template Editor, governs which templates get assigned to which race. Assignment is done on a best match basis. If there are no filters set (or the filters are the same for all templates), then essentially all races will have a "best match" will all templates AND the SAME template should be chosen for each race (until you add a new template, which could change the selection algorithm - though I believe the FIRST one on the list gets chosen when there are more than one "best match"). So -- unless something is broken -- if you want a specific type of template to be applied to a specific type of race, use the race assignment filters. If you find that templates are changing when you switch races, check the assignment filters of the templates at hand and see if they have been setup.
