How do I add files (data and results) daily, the easiest and quickest way?

This process will be described using the features available in EquiSim 3.5. The process only takes a few moments, although I've detailed a lot of things that goes on here.

  • Download cards for next day, store in correct location (use file grabber, file organizer, or manually. See the Data Files chapter in the User's Guide)

  • Open cards for next day in ES. ES 3.5 has a command called "File Menu->Open By Date" -- very useful. Handicap.

  • In the File menu, use the "Auto-Save Card Settings" and "Auto-Load card settings" if you wish to have EquiSim save any pace line selections and other changes you may have made.

  • When results files are ready, download results, store in correct location (use file grabber, file organizer, or manually - see the Data Files section of the User's Guide)

  • Open cards in ES. Use the File Menu->Open By Date command again. It remembers the tracks you opened from previously too. Results load automatically. If "auto-load card settings" is turned on in File Menu, then your settings (pace line selections, etc) will be loaded automatically for each card.

  • Make sure you are connected to correct DB in ES. See the Status Bar for the name of the DB you are connected to.

  • Simulation Menu -> Run All Simulations -- (note, in the version 3.5 of ES, it will run simulations automagically when you store to database - so you can skip this step, it gets done)

  • Profiler Database Menu->Store to Database->Store All Loaded Races

It takes a few seconds to do everything, especially in the new version with the "load by date" command.

NOTE!! BRIS/TSN will post Exotic Results files BEFORE all the results are in them. Currently, if you put your mouse over the file at their web site it will list which races are in the file in the status bar. So, make sure that you are getting complete results files.

Note 2: This method implies that you store all of your data to one database. If you download many tracks, this is especially true. Otherwise, you will need to open and close cards in groups (possibly groups of one) depending on which tracks you store to each database. EquiSim is fully equipped to handle databases with multiple tracks store in them. Keeping all of your tracks in one database is now the preferred method of building databases.
