After I load bias settings they don't seem to have any effect on my race simulations. What gives?

There are several reasons why bias settings may not have any effect on simulated races. The first few are obvious, but there's one worth explaining here.

• You don't have "Use Simulation Biases" turned on in the Simulation menu.
  
• The bias settings you loaded don't have any significant impact on the races.
  
• The bias settings you loaded don't match the races you are simulating in terms of "Track/Surface/Distance (sprint/route)"
  

Then there's this problem.
If you do the following, Bias Settings will NOT take effect:
1) Have Use Simulation Biases turned on
2) Start the program with NO biases loaded. Biases are loaded automatically if they exist in a database when you connect to that database. You can also load them manually from the Bias Settings dialog in the Simulation Menu. The point here is that NO biases are loaded in ES at this point.
3) You open race card(s)
4) Now you load the bias settings, either by connecting to a database or loading them from a file.
5) You run simulations. Use Bias Settings was on to begin with. The Bias Settings did not have any effect.

The reason for this is that loading biases in and of itself does not trigger any loaded races to reconfigure for the newly loaded bias settings. If you load bias settings AFTER loading race cards, the quick work around is to go to the Simulation Menu and switch Use Simulation Biases OFF and then go back and switch them ON. This will cause all loaded races to reconfigure, giving them the opportunity to pick up any newly loaded bias settings.
