Found an odd one. I'm retrofitting some "wagers" from TAM last year to track some angles and found a race (#9 on 3/25/03) where the place price is 0.

I found this by placing a wager to place on a horse and the ticket displays NB->2.

I looked into the chart of the race and right below the chart where the prices display it does say 0.00, 0.00 for place. Futher in the chart below the fractions the actual place prices are displayed.

Only thing I see different was the dead heat to win. It needs to be noted that I'm using Game Theory's parser but when I look at the raw file the prices look to be in the correct spot.

Scott -- what you describe is the last problem I fixed for the latest release (version 22 is it?). It was caused by both a disqualified horse as well as a horse that was an entry, and the entry was the top horse. Dead heats could cause this too, and they are a real pain to deal with.
