Folks,
I've been building the 4.0 Foundation DB over the last few days, a bit at a time (cause it takes a long time). First a note for folks who build really big databases. This was just an observation, so it may not be true -- but it appeared that the program slowed down during the "store by tracks" operation _considerably_ after, say, a couple of months of solid data processing. When you close out the program and restart it, it is "speedy" again (relatively speaking...). Again, not sure if this is always the case, and can't think of anything in the program to make it that way, but.... On to the good stuff -- I've got about 33750 races into the 4.0 foundation Profiler db now. Folks, these dbs are not small. This one is already 250 megs. The big question -- from a plain jane, every race, every track, 1000 mile away overview -- which stat do you think will be the best, win% and ROI wise? This is what I'm looking at so far: Simulation: Starts: 33756, 24.67% wins, -12.87% ROI Profiler: Starts; 29271, 28.79% Wins, -13% ROI Same horse is Simulation winner AND Top Profiler horse: Starts: 17853, 30.05% Wins, -12.33% ROI Horse is Simluation winner OR prof Winner (or both, so often two horses per race which will hurt the percentages): Starts: 45174, 25.20% Wins, -13.17% ROI Comp Val: Starts: 29256, 26.41% Wins, -5.96% ROI (that's actually damn good, not just good, unless you think I'm selling free money around here (note, that wouldn't make it free, so there ain't no such thing, get it)...) And, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, Trainer Val: 30154 starts, 24.87% wins, -6.17% ROI There's gold in them hills - some whale payoffs as well. JOckey val: 29315 starts, 28.41% wins, -10.92% ROI Sire Val: 37637 starts (many ties), 16.01 % Wins( lots of ties will do that), -15.94% ROI (and that). There was one 211.20$ payout.. Yowza. Owner Val: 57276 Starts (lots and lots of ties), 17.21% wins, -17.18% ROI Also had that same 211.20$ winner |

Nathan,
I love that trainer stat result! I think that Equisim should tailor itself more towards trainer intent and winning situations . That's where we get those larger prices. It isn't very often when a trainer is surprised when his charge runs well. [This message was edited by jk3521 on November 29, 2003 at 09:26 PM.] |

Crazy Stuff -
Just checking to make sure I included each month so far, well, that I included March. So I did a SPAT on 3/1/2003 to 3/4/2004 - just a few days. Check out how crazy this is: Sim Or Prof: 713 starts, 23% wins, -14.59% ROI SIM alone: 515 starts, 22.14, -21.81% ROI COMP VAL: 503 starts, 47.91% Wins (FORTY SEVEN POINT NINE!), +153.58% ROI That's one heck of a Sat, Sun, Mon and Tues for the Comp Val. |
